Australasian Theological Book Prize 2006

Anne Hunt's
Trinity: Nexus of the Mysteries of Christian Faith, Orbis, 2005,
Theology in Global Perspective Series

The judges have made their decision for the 2006 Australasian Theological Book Prize. The annual Prize is awarded to the best single authored theological book from the Australaisan region. The 2006 is the third year of the Prize.

The judges use the following criteria in their judging books: that the book is well written; that it is an original contribution to the field; that it is of an international standard and that it is a challenging contribution to the field.

The judges had six books submitted for their consideration of the 2006 prize and were impressed with the range and quality of the books submitted.

The 2006 Prize is awarded to Dr Anne Hunt, Rector of the Ballarat based Aquinas Campus of Australian Catholic University for her book Trinity: Nexus of the Mysteries of Christian Faith.

Dr Hunt's book was chosen due to its treatment of the doctrine of the Trinity from the early church teachings through to contemporary theology. Writing as a Roman Catholic, and therefore as part of the Western Christian church, her book examined the Trinity in both the Western and the Eastern traditions. It was recommended for its broad content and embracing knowledge of the various schools in the Christian traditions understanding of the Trinity.

The judges also chose the book due what they believe to be its suitability as a class text at undergraduate theological student level.

The judges, and the Board of the Australasain Theological Forum Ltd, warmly congratulate Dr Hunt on her book and for this recognition through being awarded the 2006 ATF Book Prize.
